Grade 7-Tips On Getting Organized!

Grade 7-Tips on Getting Organized-
Hi Bloggers!
Let's start this off with a fact: did you know that this is my 44th blog post? And my first blog post of this school semester? (Well, actually, you would, if you counted all the posts. That would take too long, though. Maybe I should have a 50th anniversary celebration with crazy fonts you can't read and so many pictures.)
As you all know (or not), I'm starting Grade 7. That's a whole new thing! Seriously, it is. Back when I was in Grade 6, I had barely any homework! Oh no, I'm sounding like an old person... (See the effects Grade 7 is having on me?!)
There is...
1. Homework (a lot! An hour, if you're lucky.)
2. Tests! And key assessments, quizzes, exams...whatever you like to call it (I have at least one a day. Sometimes three.)
3. Projects! Essays! Paragraphs! Rough drafts! (You get the point now, right?)
If you're like me and you're experiencing the effects of Grade 7, I have a medicine I can prescribe you with. It'll make you feel better and it's called...
Reading #44 of Layla's Picks!
That's right, this post is CHOCK-FULL of stuff to help you get organized and survive the madness!
Let's start...

Tip #1: Stop freaking out and be calm (I know, this is a hard step.)
This is a hard step, but as soon as you stay calm, the process gets a WHOLE lot easier.
Tip #2: Get the things you need for school and decide what helps you learn best
For school, I got binders, dividers, highlighters, and lined paper and washi tape. I'm a visual learner, so colors and underlining help me. That's why this blog post is full of colors.
Tip #3: Stay organized
Did I blind you for a sec?
You should stay organized! Divide your binders with dividers and make sections for notes, worksheets...everything. Make sure you have time for homework and always carry a pencil or two in your bag. And also PIROTIZE! I mean, prioritize. See? I was so busy writing this blog, I forgot the spelling! I have to prioritize spelling. Make sure you do what you need to d first.
Tip #4: Get stuff done
This is the most obvious but NEEDED tip: get stuff done. When you're in my grade, you get lots of homework. You can't bring it all home or else you'll need a freight train instead of a backpack! So you have to finish stuff! My strategy is to get the easiest and quickest stuff done. If I have math, language, and French homework, I'd do French first (it's quick stuff), then language (I'm good at that), and then take home math if I didn't have time to do it at school. But you should also try to do math first if it's just a worksheet, then you don't have a dad to try and give you more homework and make you study it.
Tip #5: Have a good relationship
You should have a good relationship with your teachers, friends, and parents. It sounds cheesy, but if you do, you can depend on them for help on lots of things. In the two months I've been in Grade 7, I've asked my friends for help at least three times and I've asked my teacher 1500 questions.
Also, ask your teacher if they have a class website or a Google Classroom to help you stay on top of things. If you don't have an agenda, buy one.
Tip #6: Write stuff down
Always write stuff down if it helps you! In my class, I'm the first one to get up for a sheet of lined paper when the teacher writes on the board. It might be embarrassing for you, but it'll come in handy when everyone but you's panicking because they don't know what to study on that big test you have tomorrow.
Tip #7: Show your smarts
This is my last tip but also my most important one: show your stuff and show your smarts. If you want to know something and you don't know it, ask your teacher. Don't be embarrassed to ask a question and especially don't think you're dumb if you ask one. Every smart person I know asks many, many questions. If you know the answer to a question, raise your hand. It improves your attitude and how you look to others. And even if you're guessing, raise your hand. It could be a learning experience.

Thank you all for reading this post and tolerating my lateness...my seven month lateness.
Love you all! Kisses and hugs!
And don't forget...
Show your smarts and show your stuff!

Easter (And...Greetings, My Alien Friends?)

Hello everybody! Im back, sorry for keeping myself, your favourite girl, away.

Thank you, thank you, yes, I know. Applause. Please hold it back. For your favourite Hollywood-Canada star. Me.

I decided to change my beautiful theme, for all of you who haven't noticed, to an Easter theme. The patterns looked like Easter eggs, right? We're going into Easter, so, who wants some...
EA-STER TRI-VI-A!!!!!!!!!!??????????
That was fun. So...Easter trivia. I'll do 10 facts.
  • The tallest Easter egg was made in Italy in 2011. It stood at 10. 39 meters and weighed an outstanding 7, 200 kg. (Which, for all of you who don't know, is 15873. 2 pounds.)
  • The term Easter gets its name from Eastre, the Anglo-Saxon goddess who symbolizes the hare and the egg.
  • The giving of Easter eggs dates back to before Easter and giving eggs is a sign of rebirth.
  • Did you know Americans buy more than 700 million marshmellow Peeps during Easter? This makes Peeps the most popular Easter candy.
  • Americans eat more than 16 million jellybeans during Easter. That's enough jellybeans to circle the globe THREE times!
  • 76% of people eat ears on the chocolate bunny first, 5% go for the feet, and 4% for the tail. I'm one of the 76%, actually.
  • Next to Halloween, Easter is the biggest candy-eating holiday of the year.
  • An estimated $14.7 billion is spent in total for Easter in the US.
  • The Easter egg is said to symbolize and represent joy, celebration, and new life.
  • The idea of the Easter bunny giving candy or eggs is said to have originated in Germany in the middle ages.
Okay, that's it. Now...who wants an Easter poll?
Here goes...

What's your favourite Easter candy?
a) Cadbury Mini Eggs (YES these are my favourite. Chocolaty and YUMMY)
b) Peeps Marshmallow Chicks
c) Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs
d) Cadbury Creme Eggs (these are always yucky for me. Especially the Orange ones. YUCK.)
That's it for now. I have to go. Byyyyee!
Happy Easter!

BEAUTIFUL, RIGHT?

I LIKE my new blog background! I was hoping you would notice it but I'm not that subtle (and patient), so...

A Belated New Year/Greetings

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

This is how I'm starting off my posts now: cool font as title, and then I proceed as usual. GOOD MORNING! Or good afternoon, good night, good evening, good etc, depends on what time you are reading this. I want to wish you a Happy New Year! Well, a belated one, anyways!
So...of course, we need a New Year's poll! Not just boring resolutions you're not going to keep, a POLL!

New Year's Poll: what do you like to do to ring in the New Year? Oh, this sentence is reminding me of something I did last year for New Years. I put a fireworks GIF and said "let's ring in the New Year ALRIGHT!" I can't believe I've had a blog for ONE YEAR now! Oh and back to the poll: what do you like to do to ring in the New Year?
1. Sit on the couch and watch a New Year's show on TV.
2. Go to tons of parties and party the night away!
3. Host a good dinner with family and friends.
Number 1 is definitely me. Number 2 is obviously Mama Salve, and 3 is probably Mom.
Oh, and since it wouldn't be Layla's Picks without a pick...what is your favourite movie playing in theaters right now?
Mine is Pitch Perfect 3.
Box Office Top 10 Films of All Time
1. Star Wars the Force Awakens (2015)
2. Avatar (2009)
3. Titanic (1997)
4. Jurassic World (2015)
5. Marvel's the Avengers (2015)
6. The Dark Night (2008)
7. Rogue One: a Star Wars story (2016)
8. Star Wars: the Last Jedi (2017)
9. Beauty and the Beast (2017)
10. Finding Dory (2016)
Thanks everyone for a brilliant 2017! I'm hoping for a good 2018!
Happy New Year!

Sorry!!!!! (And a New Schedule)

HI-It's Me.
Sorry. Long time no see. But who cares about that? Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I've decided from now on I will have a schedule: I will post every Friday, or at least try to. And it won't be a rushed post. Sorry, all you busy business people. It will be a regular-sized post, filled with humor. Or do you want a different size? Big Mac? Quarter Pounder? Cheesebur-okay, I'd better stop. Um...I'm missing something. Maybe you should tell me. I'll see if you're paying attention. Here is the not-so-daily poll:
Holiday Poll:
What is your favourite thing to do during the holidays?

1. Go caroling. "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear," right? That quote is from Elf.
2. Lie on the couch and binge-watch Christmas movies. That's a biggie for me. I love to see cheesy Christmas movies. "Fah who for-aze, dah who dor-aze!"
3. Ice skating. That's not really big for me. The last time I went skating was 4 years ago!
4. Celebrate with family. This is my choice. I just love the holiday atmosphere. It's so fun to open gifts next to an open fire, stuffing your face with food, laughing and talking.

I'm So Sorry

I'm So Sorry, Everyone

I know. Last time I posted was April 28th. But don't worry! I'm going to try to update my blog weekly, now. Before, I didn't have a blog schedule. Because I was too busy with my own schedule! A girl has plans, y'know! Last week, I went to a wedding and a picnic party! And then my car got a flat tire!! (So I had dinner at 8:00.)
Enough with my news. NEXT poll: what is your favourite summer activity?
A) going to the beach
B) chilling out in the house with the A.C. on
C) playing sports/getting active (soccer, badminton, etc.)
D) lying in a hammock
I think mine is A) going to the beach. That way you can get active, lie down, and have fun in the sun! I say that the best way of enjoying the summer is getting out in the heat! I mean, we wait ALL YEAR to enjoy summer then lock ourselves in our houses! Now's the time to enjoy summer and have fun!
What have you been doing? Going traveling or chilling out at home? The second one is TOTALLY me. I've been flying kites, going to parties, and playing at the park with my bro!
This blog wouldn't be Layla's Picks if it didn't have 'picks.' So, here's my opinion on favourite summer fruit is WATERMELON! Always have some slices of juicy red watermelon! This fruit is VERY sweet and is really healthy! A REALLY GOOD treat to have when you're really hot, but can't find some sweet ice cream.
I just read an older post of mine called OMG. It's 8:12 and I'm Typing My Butt Off. In that post, I did an interview with Little Bro. I just realized I could do an interview NOW and compare it to the older one.
L=me, B=bro
L: What's your favourite colour?
B: Uh...red.
L: What do you like to play with?
B: I like to play with trucks, and Flash, and Spiderman, and Lego, and superheroes. And Power Rangers, and swords.
L: What is your favourite Lego Star Wars guy?
B: Darth Vader and Han Solo and Luke.
L: Only one!
B: Darth Vader!
L: How old are you?
B: I am five. My birthday was in June. 29.
L: I'm sorry everyone if this is boring, but, I'm having to ask A LOT of questions to get a little bit of answers. Who are your friends in school?
B: Logan, Shane, Riley, um, uh, Francis, Mina, Hrag, that's all. And Jalen!
L: Wow, lots of friends. Do you like school? And what grade are you going to?
B: Yes. I like school, and I'm going to SK, and I'm gonna be 6.
L: That's it for now, peeps. This will get boring if I keep droning on.
My little brother is the same, except for the age and colour.
This was a long post and I'm sorry to say goodbye.
